Etienne Bastin

Etienne developed a love of foreign languages when he was still a kid. Born in Africa, his first three years of schooling were in Dutch. During his youth, he studied English and Dutch in England and Flanders on numerous occasions. A passionate traveler at 18, he spent a summer semester in Boston, USA studying philosophy, literature and economics.

After receiving his degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, he joined Ceran Lingua as a Professor of French as a Foreign Language, Assistant R&D and Administrator. He also directed Ceran Langues Provences during the summer months ( of which he has great memories!).

Besides Dutch and English, he has learned German and a little Spanish and Italian. Following the Balingua® Method, he is currently learning Chinese and Japanese.

After earning a doctorate in philosophy and management training at Ichec-Enterprises in Brussels, Belgium, he worked as a high school teacher and then as a free-lance journalist.

In 2005, his complementary interests in language and management led him to join Balingua. Here, he is Assistant R&D and Coordinator of Webmarketing, Marketing and IT Projects. He is planning to start studying psycholinguistics as soon as he can!

During his time off, Etienne loves spending time with his family (he has three adorable daughters). He likes contemporary architecture and design, photography, film, novels and traveling. He is in the process of creating his own philosophy website. Since his return from Africa in 1974, Etienne loves sun and the South (Provence, Italy, Spain, …).
