I had a group of 8 people who learned Dutch. They were all beginners with no or barely any knowledge of this language. It was just wonderful to witness the progress that they made in 2 weeks' time. They were able to master simple sentences quite rapidly. By the end of the second week they could juggle with complex sentences and they made it a game to build the longest possible sentence using the small cards to play with. This clearly shows that they dare do long complex sentences-although they were not always 100% correct - at a very early stage in their language acquisition. It took their learning a foreign language apprehension away and gave them a good dose of confidence. It is absolutely unnecessary to wait for 3 or 4 school years before starting to teach complex sentences. It was a thrilling experience and I will use this method again with a new group I will have in November- this time in English. It was fun and we had dreat sensations.
