With a degree in translation from the Institut Supérieur de Traducteurs et Interprètes de Bruxelles specializing in German-Spanish, she studied in China at the University of Foreign Languages in Beijing, where she spent nearly 2 years.
She then completed a traineeship in export training at Babel Export which, after theoretical studies, led to a 2 month posting with a consultancy firm in Shanghai.
Her mother tongue is French. She studied German and Spanish at university and has lived abroad on numerous occasions (Peru, Vienna…). She began the study of Chinese in 1999, out of curiosity and for the challenge, and got kind of caught up in it…
Balingua offered her her first “real” job. Julie had already completed various translation internships and a variety of student jobs, and also had participated in international and intercultural exchanges that allowed her to travel and discover, among other places, Peru (Rotary), Bolivia (NGO), Austria (Erasmus) and China…
On the linguistic department team, Julie works primarily on the computer version of the Balingua® Method in different languages. On the side, she does translation work, edits translations, participated in a first business trip in China and will take part in the Prince’s mission to China this June.
Julie loves fashion and makes her own necklaces, hats and accessories.
