Acquiring sentence structures comes first
In your brain you have neurons

that made it possible for you to learn your native language;

that enabled you to develop unconscious neurolinguistic mechanisms that are identical in all human languages. These mechanisms are fundamental to master the structures of a language.
If you were able to acquire your native language it means:

that your neurons work well… and
*
that you can learn to speak any other language!
